Managing Your Brand...what does this really mean? Are you a product? Yes! Can you make yourself valuable to others? Yes! How do you go about doing this? Simple...making sure you understand what you have to offer, understand what a company or professional is looking for, and know how to give them exactly that!
The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a "name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers." This same definition can be allocated to a person in relation to how they manage themselves. Managing yourself or your brand will govern opportunities that will present themselves to you. It all begins with your business knowledge and application of it, work experience, networking skills, professional document creation, and your overall appeal.
Remember hearing the term, you only get one chance to make a first impression? Let your brand make such a good impression on others. First, understand what it means to manage yourself as it relates to the career field your interested in and know exactly what you need to do to get what you want. It is that easy! Now start branding yourself!
Can you do this?
I agree, it is all about how you present yourself. Your brand is basically defining what you can offer that others cant. You have to know how to make people choose you out of a dozen.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. If you want to be the best of the best you have to sell yourself as a package. In saying that all the qualities and knowledge that you present also have to be backed up with experience. Selling every aspect that you own can open up doors for you. Especially with confidence, your showing that company you can offer a lot that can be beneficial to the company. Don't forget to show room for improvement and then back to the positive, no boss wants a know it all. Sandwich effect... leave a lasting impression not a bad one.
ReplyDeleteOnce you complete your training remember this is only the beginning and not the conclusion. You have to keep feeding into what you have already learnt to upgrade your brand regularly. Because what you put out there represent someone very important. Not the CEO, CFO or any of those guys. It represents YOU. From the first time your resume is seen until infinity. be VERY proud of who you are and what you represent. Always be open for a new improved brand. The new improved YOU!
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting topic because people don't realize how important it is to keep improving their brand. Businesses and the way people do business change all the time which means you may have to change your methods. Just because you made a good first impression doesn't mean that impression lasts forever. You need to continue to work hard and educate yourself in your chosen career so your value to a company will not depreciate.
